Cricket – ODI

England vs Australia

16 Jun, 8pm
Odds: England $TBA, Australia $TBA
The 2nd ODI between England and Australia will be played on Saturday night. England took the first game of the series as they won by 3 wickets. They setup the game with early wickets. At 3-50 in their first innings, Australia couldn’t reach a defendable target for their bowlers. But the pleasing sign was Glenn Maxwell found form in the middle order with the top score. Agar continued his good form in England with a supporting 40. But to be bowled out for 214 was always going to be a tough task. England lost an early wicket but the class of Root and Morgan led the side to victory. So in game 2, they’ll head to Cardiff with confidence. Against Australia at this venue, they have won the only 2 clashes and chased down the total in both. After game 1, England shouldn’t have much trouble beating Australia. The Aussie batsman always struggle against spin and 5 wickets were taken in game 1. So England will use that to their advantage. The home side has a strong batting lineup as well, especially in the middle order.
Best bet: England WIN (TBA)

MLB – Friday

Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees

15 Jun, 9:05am
Odds: New York Yankees $1.61, Tampa Bay Rays $2.35
The Tampa Bay Rays head to New York with winning form under their belt. They swept the Blue Jays in 3 games and have a 1-4 record in their last 5. However, the Yankees will be a tough challenge. They’re coming off a 3-0 win over the Nationals and have won 8 of their last 10. At Yankee Stadium, they’ve won 3 straight and overall, they hold a dominant 23-9 record. In the head to head, they’ve met just twice in 2018 and the Yankees thrashed them at this venue. In 2 games, they outscored the Rays 18-6. Since 2017, the Yankees are 9-2 against the Rays at home. But the Rays do have the edge on the mound. Blake Snell is looking in great touch with a 2.30 ERA and an 8-3 win-loss record. However, Yankee Stadium has been his downfall. In just 4.1 innings here, he’s allowed a total of 9 runs and he hasn’t won a start in his last 5 against them. Domingo German is up for the home side and he’s yet to earn a win in 2018. He holds a high ERA of 5.32 and has allowed 22 total runs in his last 33 innings pitched. So the over total is looking good here. It’s 2-0 between the sides this season and 19-10-3 in all games at Yankee Stadium in 2018.
Best bet: Over 8.5 runs

New York Mets at Arizona Diamondbacks

15 Jun, 11:40am
Odds: Arizona Diamondbacks $1.80, New York Mets $2.05
The New York Mets head to Arizona looking to find some form. They’ve won just 1 of their last 9 and will be desperate for a win on Friday. The problem has been a batting lineup that has scored just 14 runs in their last 10 games. So they face an uphill battle on the road against the D-backs. In contrast, runs have not been a problem for Arizona lately. They’re averaging 7.3 runs in their last 10 and have scored 9 or more runs in a 5 game winning streak. They also have a bit of motivation to beat the Mets. They were swept in New York in early May. But they did sweep the Mets at home in the last series at this venue, which was played last season. So the $1.80 odds on offer for the home side is very good value in terms of the Mets woeful form. On the mound, the D-backs give the ball to Matt Koch. He has a ERA of 4.20 in season 2018 and a 4-3 win-loss record. He is coming off a pretty rough outing in Colorado. But previously at home, he pitched 7 innings and allowed just 3 hits. So he should dominate the Mets struggling bats. Meanwhile, the Mets Steven Matz (2-4, 3.53 ERA) toes the rubber. He has a 5.40 ERA in his last 2 starts against Arizona and hasn’t been given run support in most of his starts of late. So in the end, it’s hard to see the Mets pulling off an upset and I will back the home side to continue their form.
Best bet: Diamondbacks WIN $1.80

Rugby Union

Australia vs Ireland

16 Jun, 8pm
Odds: Australia $1.82, Ireland $2.00
The Wallabies got the job done in game 1 of this series as they beat Ireland at Suncorp 18-9. The key for Australia was a tough defensive line that kept Ireland try-less. While in attack, Bernard Foley scored the first try for Australia in the corner. Then in the 71st minute, David Pocock found the line to seal Australia’s win. So they’ll look for a 2-0 lead with game 2 in Melbourne. Australia were underdogs in game 1 but after their victory, they’ve been given $1.82 odds to beat Ireland. The Irish don’t have a great record in Australia but I think this will be another close contest. Both sides are strong defensively and the Irish will be desperate to break their Australian hoodoo. So I think either side can win this by under 7.5 points.
Best bet: Triple Margin I – Any Other Result $2.25

Soccer – World Cup

France vs Australia

16 Jun, 8pm
Odds: France $1.22, Australia $13.00
Australia start their World Cup with a tough matchup against France on Saturday night. The French are one of the favourites to reach the final and they’ll be looking to start this tournament with a confidence building victory. They’re loaded with top class players from European football and have Australia covered on paper. As a result, France is paying just $1.22. The two sides met a few year’s ago and France crushed Australia 6-0. The concern for Australia at the moment is how they will defensively stop France. The Socceroos defence is fairly inexperienced and they will struggle to defend the likes of Antoine Griezmann. He’s one of the favourites for the Golden Boot and he’ll be looking for goals early on in the tournament. So Australia’s best chance at victory is hitting the lead early on and making France play catch up football. In the end, I think this should be high scoring and the over total goals is good value. France can easily score 3 goals themselves and Australia could find the net through Cahill or Mooy.
Best bet: Over 2.5 goals $1.73
