Cricket – Big Bash (BBL07)

Melbourne Stars v Melbourne Renegades

Saturday 06/01/2018 – 7:10pm
Odds: Renegades $1.76, Stars $2.07
The Melbourne Derby headlines the Big Bash on Saturday, but both sides are in contrasting form. The Renegades are third on the ladder with a 3-1 record. They thrashed the Sixers in their last game and have a great all-round team. The bowlers kept the Sixers quiet all game and they comfortably chased down a total. While for the Stars, they’re 0-3 and need to win this game. They lost badly against the Heat at home last time out. Their batsman struggled early on and the bowlers were no match for the Bash Brothers. In positive news, Maxwell was dumped from the ODI squad so he’ll be looking to continue his form in the Big Bash. He top scored with a half-century in the loss to the Heat and he’s in great form at the MCG this season.

In the head to head, the Stars are leading 8-3. But at the moment, we just can’t see them beating this Renegades side. With a fit Dwayne Bravo, young bowler Jack Wildermuth, experienced spinner Nabi and veterans Brad Hogg/Brad Hodge, this is a different side than previous years. Aaron Finch also returned to form last game with a half-century and Cameron White is in vintage batting form. That will be the key difference. The Stars bowling lineup is struggling to bowl sides out and the Renegades have arguably the best batting lineup. So we’re backing the Renegades to win this game.
Best bet: Renegades WIN $1.76

Horse Racing Specials

3 Big Tracks | First 4 Races

For Saturday racing at Mornington, Gold Coast and Randwick.

Randwick

Race 1: Scream Park ($3.60) – Has won it’s last two and has already been backed in from $4.20 into $3.60. Good career record so far and trained by Chris Waller.
Race 2: Canyonero ($5) – He is the top weight but showed good touch in his first race at Randwick last start. Tye Angland is in good form and gets a decent barrier draw (5).
Race 3: Tswalu ($4.40) – In an open race, we do like this horse. The mare is 2-1-0 from 4 starts at the distance and won’t mind coming from the back to win down the straight.
Race 4: Runway Ready ($4.60) – In good enough form to beat the short-priced favourite in Awesome Pluck. Won last start at Ipswich and has a good record at the distance.

NBL

Illawarra Hawks v Melbourne United

Saturday 06/01/2018 – 7:37pm
Odds: Hawks $1.78, United $2.05
On Saturday night, the Hawks host United and Melbourne will start as the underdog. But they have won the last three against the Hawks, including a 84-78 win away from home just a few weeks ago. They also lead the head to head 17-11 since 2010. United should be able to contain the Hawks as they average just 82 points allowed per game. Whereas the Hawks allow 90 points per game and that’s been the difference between the sides in the last few meetings. United has won five games in a row and kept the Bullets to just 68 points in their last win. So the value is for United over $2 for the win.
Best bet: United WIN $2.05

NFL – Wildcard Playoffs (Sunday)

Tennessee Titans At Kansas City Chiefs

Sunday 07/01/2018 – 8:30am
Odds: Chiefs $1.22, Titans $4.50
In the first Wildcard playoff game, the Chiefs host the Titans at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs finished the season with a four-game winning streak and have won their last 3 at home by over 10 points. So they’ll be confident of beating the Titans. While for the Titans, they scrapped into the playoffs after a 15-10 win over the Jaguars. They snapped an eight-year playoff drought and will be looking for an upset. They do have a good record in Kansas City, having won the last two against them. They met last season and the score finished 19-17. So we would expect a similar, lower scoring game in the playoffs. The Titans are 4-2 against the under and 4-2 on the road. The Chiefs are 6-2 against the under in their last 8 games and 5-1 when playing at home. So we’ll take the unders.
Best bet: Under 44 points $1.92

Atlanta Falcons At Los Angeles Rams

Sunday 07/01/2018 – 12:15pm
Odds: Rams $1.34, Falcons $3.40
The second Wildcard playoff game is arguably the best matchup of the four games. The Super Bowl representatives for the NFC were the Falcons last season and they head to Los Angeles for a clash with the Rams. They’ll be keen to defend their title. Atlanta found form before the playoffs with a 3-1 record. In Week 17, they beat the Panthers 22-10 and secured the last wildcard place. While for the Rams, they basically had a bye last week as they couldn’t improve their playoff position. They won the NFC West this season and finished first in the NFL for overall scoring. This will be their first playoff experience for a while and it will be interesting to see how they handle it. Looking at the recent results between the sides, the Falcons have the edge with a 4-0 record and smashed them in the last playoff matchup. So the line for the Falcons is attractive. The Falcons are 5-2 ATS when facing the Rams. The Rams are just 4-10-1 ATS at home and 1-6 overall against the Falcons. So take the Falcons to cover. We’d also expect a high scoring game and the over total points is worth a look as well.
Best bet: Falcons +6.5 $1.95

Soccer – EPL

Tottenham v Everton

Sunday 14/01/2018 – 4:30am
Odds: Tottenham 1.22, Draw 6.00, Everton 12.00
In EPL action, Tottenham are short priced favourites against Everton. The Hot Spurs are pushing for a top four spot and will be looking for another win against Everton. They beat them 3-0 on the road in September and haven’t lost against them in the last 10 meetings. They have a 6-3-1 record at home this season. In contrast, Everton are just 1-5-5 on the road this season and sit 9th on the table. In 22 matches, they’ve scored just 25 goals and it’s hard to see them upsetting the trend against the Spurs. So the value bet is the Spurs to lead throughout the match. There’s also value in the -2 handicap at $3.
Best bet: Tottenham HT/FT $1.72
