Weekend Sports Betting Guide – 21st September 2017

AFL Specials – Preliminary Finals

24 up, you win!

If your team goes 24 points up, we’ll pay our H2H bets straight away.

The AFL Finals has only seen one close match so far and punters must be loving the Sportsbet 24 up promotion. But in the first Preliminary Final, the Cats and Crows are two sides that will likely play a close match and we can’t see a blowout. But the Tigers are the best chance against the Giants. With a huge crowd on their side, the Tigers could lead by 4 goals early on.

Cricket – ODI Cricket

Australia vs India

Thursday 21/09/2017 – 6:00pm
Odds: India $1.57, Australia $2.41

India won the first game via Duck Worth Lewis so hopefully the rain stays away for this clash. Australia had India on the ropes at one stage (3 for not much) but the lower order rescued the innings. Australia have lost 9 ODI’s in a row on the road and this will be another tough contest.

India – Top Runscorer

The Indian top order was rattled by Coulter-Nile in the first game so there is some value in this market. MS Dhoni scored another half-century and if India loose quick wickets again, he’s a great bet at $10.00. Pandya top scored in the last game and he enjoyed facing Adam Zampa. He’s paying $15.00, but it’s pretty unlikely for the Indians to need an 80 from him again. So Dhoni is our best bet.

Best bet: MS Dhoni ($10.00)

Australia – Top Runscorer

Australia were also poor in the first game as the game turned into a 20/20. There’s also talk of a green pitch which has us a bit worried for the batting lineup. Maxwell top scored in the first game with 39, which included 4 sixes. He’s value at $7.50, especially if Australia are down batsman early. Steve Smith is playing in his 100th ODI and he’ll be looking for a big score. He’s Australia’s best player of spin and we would back him to top score here.

Best bet: Steve Smith ($4.00)

Prediction

Australia bowled well in the first 15 overs last game, but India now have the momentum after the bottom order rescued them. The pitch conditions will suit India and we can’t see them losing here.

Best bet: India WIN ($1.57)

NFL – Friday

Los Angeles Rams At San Francisco 49ers

Friday 22/09/2017 – 10:25am
Odds: Rams $1.70, 49ers $2.21

In the Friday NFL game, the 49ers host the Rams in Santa Clara. The 49ers are coming off a tough loss against the Seahawks and they’ll be looking for an upset at home against the Rams. The Rams lost at home last week and they have a 1-1 record so far.

The 49ers are yet to score a touchdown in 2017, but they have a 9-4 H2H record against the Rams. They’ve also won the last three against them. Last season, the 49ers won the last meeting by a point, 22-21. In Week 1 last year, they won again 28-0. Although, this should be closer on short week.

But based on the head to head record and the fact the 49ers came close to upsetting the Seahawks last week, they’re a good value bet at the line of 2.5 points.

Best bet: 49ers +2.5 ($1.99)

NFL Multi

Browns at Colts – Under 40.5 points ($1.94) – This is a tough game to pick a winner but the under total should come through. Both sides have young Quarterbacks under centre and we can’t see them scoring over 20 points each.
Saints +6.0 ($1.88) – The Saints and Panthers play close games and we’re expecting the Saints will get within a field goal.
Chiefs -3.0 ($1.83) – Kansas City are a team to watch this season and they should comfortably beat the Chargers.
Raiders -3.0 ($1.92) – The Raiders are in great form and we can’t see them losing against the inconsistent Redskins.

NRL Specials – Preliminary Finals

12 up, you win!

If your team goes 12 points up, we’ll pay our H2H bets straight away.

In the Sportsbet 12 up promotion, the Storm would be the best side to get up this week. They have been the best side in the NRL this season and they’re hard to beat at home. Especially with Cooper Cronk retiring, they’ll be looking for a big win in front of their home crowd. The Roosters and Cowboys clash should be the closest match of the week and we can’t see either team leading by over 12 points.

MLB – Friday Multi

Minnesota Twins (A Mejia) At Detroit Tigers (J Zimmermann)

Friday 22/09/2017 – 9:10am
Odds: Twins $1.72, Tigers $2.18

The Twins are coming off a tough series in New York as they lost three in a row. With a wildcard place in play, the Twins need to beat the Tigers. This game is the first of four in Detroit and the Tigers are well out of the playoffs. But they would love to upset the Twin’s playoff hopes.

But Jordan Zimmermann of the Tigers is in horrible form. The Tigers are 0-3 in his last three home starts and he’s allowed a huge total of 19 runs in those games. So the Twins batting lineup will enjoy facing him. Adalberto Mejia has looked good on the road this season with a 2-1 record and a 2.54 ERA. But he has lost both starts against the Tigers and he only lasted 57 pitches in his last outing.

In the last game for Zimmermann at home against the Twins, the total reached 23 runs and the over total game score is 3-0 when Zimmermann faces the Twins. So the over total is the best bet.

Best bet: Over 10 runs ($1.77)

Washington Nationals (T Roark) At Atlanta Braves (R Dickey)

Friday 22/09/2017 – 9:35am
Odds: Nationals $1.72, Braves $2.18

The Nationals have already wrapped up the NL East and the Braves are well out of playoff contention. But the Nationals will be looking to enter the playoffs with winning form. In the pitching matchup, the Nationals have the edge with Tanner Roark against R.A. Dickey.

Roark has won two straight starts and he faced the Braves in his last outing. He went 6 innings and allowed just 4 hits as the Nationals won 5-2. He’s 3-1 against the Braves since 2016 so we’re expecting another good outing here. While for Dickey, he has an 0-3 record against the Nationals and he’s coming into this start with bad form. He’s allowed 16 total runs in his last three home games and he’s 0-2 in those games.

The Nationals will take advantage of Dickey and they’re a safe bet on Friday.

Best bet: Nationals WIN ($1.72)
