Brisbane Broncos vs Penrith Panthers

September 15, 2017 @ Suncorp Stadium
Odds: Broncos $1.40, Panthers $3.05

Betting preview of the Broncos versus the Panthers at Suncorp Stadium on Friday.

Broncos Form:

The Broncos were unlucky last week as they just lost against the Roosters by 2 points. But they get a home final against the Panthers at Suncorp on Friday night. Brisbane are 9-3 at home this season but they did concede 52 points against the Eels in their last home match. In team news, Darius Boyd is a chance to return from injury and we’ll find out on Thursday.
Last 5 Matches:
LOST by 2 – Broncos 22, Roosters 24 – Qualifying Final, 2017
WON by 10 – Broncos 20, Cowboys 10 – Round 26, 2017
LOST by 18 – Broncos 34, Eels 52 – Round 25, 2017
WON by 12 – Broncos 24, Dragons 12 – Round 24, 2017
WON by 22 – Broncos 32, Sharks 10 – Round 23, 2017

Panthers Form:

Last week, Penrith rebounded from a 16 point loss against the Sea Eagles to beat them by 12 in the finals. They’ll now travel to Brisbane for a potential matchup with the Storm in Melbourne. The Panthers went 6-7 on the road this season and they’ll face a massive task up at Suncorp Stadium in-front of a Brisbane centric crowd. Penrith will take a unchanged lineup so far to Brisbane after last week as well.
Last 5 Matches:
WON by 12 – Panthers 22, Sea Eagles 10 – Elimination Final, 2017
LOST by 16 – Panthers 12, Sea Eagles 28 – Round 26, 2017
LOST by 2 – Panthers 14, Dragons 16 – Round 25, 2017
WON by 4 – Panthers 26, Raiders 22 – Round 24, 2017
WON by 8 – Panthers 24, Cowboys 16 – Round 23, 2017

Head to Head (Since 2010) – Panthers: 6-4

Brisbane won the last and only meeting of the season between the sides 32-18 in Round 9 at home. Overall, the Broncos are 4-2 against the Panthers at home since 2010. They haven’t met in the finals since 2003 and the Panthers won on that occasion 28-18.

Last 2 Meetings:

Broncos won by 14 points – Round 9, 2017 – Broncos 32 d Panthers 18 (50 total points)
Panthers won by 19 points – Round 20, 2016 – Panthers 31 d Broncos 12 (43 total points)

Big Win Little Win

In the Panthers last five matches, four of them have finished in the 1-12 margin. The last five matches for the Broncos at home have finished inside 1-12 on one occasion. But as this is a final, we would expect a closer match. At home, the Broncos are tough to beat and we would suggest them for a 1-12 win.
Best bet: Broncos 1-12 ($3.00)

Brisbane almost upset the Roosters in Week 1 but the Panthers were great against the Sea Eagles. The trip to Suncorp is tough for the Panthers but they have winning momentum. So we would back the Broncos 1-12 but the Panthers should be able to get within 7.5 points. The Panthers are 9-1 ATS in the last 10 matches as well. In the first try scoring markets, Corey Oates would be the best choice from the Broncos. While for the Panthers, Tyrone Peachey scored last week and he’ll be the key for them early on.
Panthers +7.5 ($1.94)

Parramatta Eels vs North Queensland Cowboys

September 16, 2017 @ ANZ Stadium
Odds: Eels $1.36, Cowboys $3.25

Betting preview of the Eels versus the Cowboys at ANZ Stadium on Saturday.

Eels Form:

The Eels almost pulled off an upset against the Storm in Melbourne last week. But they lost by 2 points and they travel to ANZ Stadium for a spot in the Preliminary Finals. Since Round 12, the Eels are 9-1 at ANZ with the only loss coming against the Knights. They’ve won the last two here comfortably and they’ll look for a similar result in the finals. In team news, Cameron King has been named but he might be a late out. Bevan French is out again but could return next week if the Eels win.
Last 5 Matches:
LOST by 2 – Eels 16, Storm 18 – Qualifying Final, 2017
WON by 6 – Eels 22, Rabbitohs 16 – Round 26, 2017
WON by 18 – Eels 52, Broncos 34 – Round 25, 2017
WON by 22 – Eels 30, Titans 8 – Round 24, 2017
LOST by 19 – Eels 10, Knights 29 – Round 23, 2017

Cowboys Form:

North Queensland staged a massive upset in Week 1 as they defeated the Sharks in extra time. They’ll be looking for another upset in the Semi Finals against the Eels. They’ll take huge confidence from a finals win in Sydney and they actually have a 4-0 record at ANZ Stadium. Their only clash here this season was a 30-14 win over the Bulldogs. The Cowboys will be unchanged for this clash, although Justin O’Neill could be a late in from injury.
Last 5 Matches:
WON by 1 – Cowboys 15, Sharks 14 – Elimination Final, 2017
LOST by 10 – Cowboys 10, Broncos 20 – Round 26, 2017
WON by 8 – Cowboys 22, Tigers 14 – Round 25, 2017
LOST by 10 – Cowboys 16, Sharks 26 – Round 24, 2017
LOST by 8 – Cowboys 16, Panthers 24 – Round 23, 2017

Head to Head (Since 2010) – Cowboys: 8-6

The Cowboys lead the head to head 8-6 since 2010. They won the last meeting by 26 points in Round 14. But the Eels won the first meeting 26-6 up in North Queensland. They haven’t met in Sydney since March, 2016 and the Eels won by 4 points in a close match. We would expect the same in this matchup.

Last 2 Meetings:

Cowboys won by 26 points – Round 14, 2017 – Cowboys 32 d Eels 6 (38 total points)
Eels won by 20 points – Round 9, 2017 – Eels 26 d Cowboys 6 (32 total points)

Big Win Little Win

The two meetings this season have not been close as both sides have won by 13+. However, this finals series has not seen a blowout yet and we don’t think it will happen here. The Eels have played in two straight 1-12 matches and the Cowboys have played in five straight. So we would back the 1-12 this week. The Eels at home are the best bet as they showed great form against the best side in the NRL last week (Storm).
Best bet: Eels 1-12 ($3.05)

This should be another close final on Saturday and the line is looking attractive for the Cowboys. They were 8 point underdogs last week and they’re back at +7.5 against the Eels. We think the Eels will win by 1-12 as they pushed the Storm all the way last week. They also have a great record at the venue and the Cowboys are still missing Thurston. But the Cowboys should keep this close and they’ll be buoyed after beating the Sharks in Sydney last week. For first try scorer, we would back Semi Radradra after he was kept quiet last week.
Cowboys +8.5 ($1.90)
